Biography

Artist Graeme Hogg works with his hands making, fixing and building things. Since 1995, he has been working with film, with a focus on developing the conditions and experimental lab facilities to create screen based works in full analogue mode.

In 1998 with three other artists, Hogg co-founded the Cube Microplex Cinema an unique arts venue, adult creche and progressive social wellbeing enterprise in Bristol. Currently in its 18th year, the Cube is one of the UK’s, longest running independent arts venue. Run by volunteers as a membership organisation, it is a working example of how decentralised methods can be applied to the operational day-to-day existence of an arts venue.

For Urban Knights, Hogg will present a personal overview of the Cube’s, history including how the venue has contributed to the Bristol art scene and the gentrification experienced in the neighbourhood within which its located, Stokes Croft.
